Xinjiang is more than just chuar, and this restaurant is one of Beijing’s finest establishment for a whole range of Xinjiang cuisine. Many exotic flavours designed to impress!

Ritan Bei Lu is the street that runs north of Ritan Park. Coming from Dongdaqiao Lu, turn West into Ritan Bei Lu and the restaurant is about 200 metres in, on the left (south side of the street). Russian writing on the outside.

JZM#57: 22 March 2010 – Yu Xiang Jia Chu

Nea found this great little restaurant one day after she spent four hours driving hard bargains in the Silk Street Market.  It lifted her spirits and tickled her taste buds – so she brought it to my attention.  And since it comes highly recommended from those who live in the area, I figured we should give it a try.

Name: Yu Xiang Jia Chu

Location: in an alley across the road from the Silk Street Market.  Basically across from the East entrance of the market – there are a bunch of stalls and fast-food restaurants.  This place is at the entrance of the alley on the East side of Dong Da Qiao Lu.

Type of cuisine: Hunan/Sichuan/spicy

Closet subway stop: Yong An Li

JZM #56: 15 March 2010 – 古城人家食府 Gu Cheng Ren Jia Shi Fu

Spring is almost here and it’s time to get JZM rolling again, Alex-style.

This gem of a place in the perfect spot for Jiao Zi Monday and has been vetted by Laura.  It’s vegetarian-friendly, super-tasty and situated on a rambunctious hutong in the middle of Beijing – the perfect ingredients for a memorable JZM.

Old schoolers among you will recognize that Shatan Hou Jie is the location of “Seafood Dumplings – Would You Like to Try?” an epic choice by Jeff that’s in the running for cheapest JZM ever!

This restaurant is on the east side of Shatan Hou Jie is near Shatan Beijie.
