Too much Turkey over Christmas weekend and in need of a change? Or no turkey at all but you just want to dine with some cool people? Today’s restaurant specializes in “sour soup fish” where the fish boiled in soup is supposed to be extra tender and aromatic with a spicy kick. If spicy kicks are not your thing, their rice tofu is also supposed to be pretty special… (thanks, DianPing!).

Its going to be Jeffs last JZM until he kicks off JZM NY (New York). And when we’re stopping by the big apple we will surely appreciate dropping in for a guest appearance. As a send off for Jeff and appreciation for his energy into JZM its appropriate to make our annual pilgrimage to the inspiration for JZM. So try and make it for a special JZM tonight!

JZM #129 December 12 2011 – Big Stuff Dumplings Homestyle Food 大馅水饺家常菜

With just over a year left until the end of the world (12-21-2012) we need to make the most of our Monday dinners. This week we have a great place in a very convenient location just next to the Tuanjiehu subway stop. It is a lunch favorite of office workers in the area and so with any luck they will have a bit more space for our group come dinner time. For those that have been asking for dumplings these last few weeks, this restaurant can deliver.

JZM #128 December 5 2011 – NewNew Hunan 新新湘菜

This Monday promises to be a great dinner. I have been coming to this restaurant for the last couple of years and frankly am surprised that JZM has not been here in the past. The restaurant is tiny and some people might say even say homely (in the unattractive sense of the word), but the food never fails to satisfy and that is why I offer it as JZM #128! You will notice that the food rating on dianping is a spicy 24.
