Hey peeps,

First of all, my apologies for the translation of the name of the restaurant. nciku translated 酱肉 as “braised pork with soy sauce; spiced pork” which was too specific whereas google translated it as just “sauce” which was too broad, so I just translated it literally.

My friend has been raving to me about 北新桥三条 Beixinqiao santiao, this street by Dongzhimen that has all these delicious food stands. I, for one, am VERY curious — she said she got the best 种子(zhongzi) ever there and I definitely want in on that. Therefore, Jiaozi Monday will take place at a restaurant on that street today. The lucky restaurant is 王大人酱肉馆 Wang Da Ren Jiang Rou Guan which has jiaozi as well! Yay!

So 7:30pm for saucy meat, 东城区北新桥三条73-2号(近雍和宫大街). But we all know we’re really just going for the food stands.

Its time to start eating outside, and what better location than at the green fields of Central Park. Jasmine Cafe is very tasty HK canteen style food. It is located at central park apartment complex which is directly opposite the Place (shimao tianjie) on the east side and to the south of Chaowai Soho. Central park in Chinese is 新城国际公寓 (xincheng guoji)

Helloooooo JZM’ers!

This Monday, we’re going to 九转小磨 JiuZhuanXiaoMo, a new restaurant of Shandong cuisine that just opened on 春秀路 ChunXiuLu — nice decor, clean, apparently their specialty is tofu-related delicacies — including all you can drink soy-milk for us since we made a reservation! For those who are not fans of tofu, never fear! They have a wide selection of non-tofu on the menu as well…

However, what makes this week’s JZM extra special is that it will be a joint dinner with Beijing’s branch of the Sandbox Network on the topic of “Innovative Methods of Empowering the Underprivileged in China.” This also means that this will potentially be the biggest jiaozi monday dinner ever, as well as the biggest Sandbox Beijing dinner ever.
