Far and away the hippest chuan’er joint on the planet, the Hot Bean Cooperative is run by a creative group of Chinese twentysomethings convinced that spicy chicken skewers are an integral part of la vie boheme. Don’t expect to do anything more than admire Hot Bean’s spacey murals without a reservation.

Directions (map)
1. From Zhangzizhong Station (on Line 5), use Exit A (NW exit) and walk West along Zhangzizhong Street (Z3);
2. Arriving at intersection of Z3 and Jiaodaokou, cross over to West side of street, then walk North;
3. Chaodou Hutong is the first alley on left and the restaurant is about 30 meters inside.
