JZM #78: 4 October 2010 – Two-year JZM anniversary at Bao Yuan Jiao Zi

I can’t believe it’s been two years since we started Jiao Zi Monday and set off on our culinary exploration of Beijing. In that time, over 150 people have been to a JZM and we’ve visited 70 different restaurants (picked by about 25 different people). Our group has grown and changed over the past two years and is now a “must do” for any newbies to Beijing, or those looking to expand their horizons.

So let’s go out and celebrate the evolution of JZM into a Beijing institution!

Tonight I want to take us back to the best jiao zi restaurant in Beijing and the place that provided the inspiration for JZM. If you haven’t been here before, you are in for a real treat.

I hope you join us!

JZM #18: 6 April 2009 – Bao Yuan Jiao Zi Wu

Back where it all began! To welcome Patrick’s sister Colleen to Beijing we are heading back to the most famous jiao zi restaurant in town. Don’t miss this one!

7:30pm – try to arrive early if at all possible and claim a table, since they don’t take reservations and this might be a large group.

The Mythical Founding of Jiao Zi Monday: 6 October 2008 – Bao Yuan Jiaozi

This is where it all began. Laura and I found this place in a magazine and headed over to taste some of the most delicious Chinese food we had ever eaten. I think the total bill for both of us to fill our stomachs and wash down the food with some Yanjing beer was 53RMB. That’s when we decided “hey, we should do this more often, and we should invite our friends!”
